by Adrienne Hansen, Attorney at Law, Reben, Benjamin & March
The Law Firm of Reben, Benjamin & March is honored that, after a nationwide search, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to offer Howard the position of General Counsel to the Professional Association of Nurse Travelers. The firm’s practice is grounded on the principle that there is no greater compliment than to be entrusted with the responsibility of representing workers. We are all excited about this new challenge and will strive to provide the highest quality of legal services to the Association’s members.
Howard Reben has been a lawyer specializing in civil rights, employment, labor, and personal injury law for 38 years. During that time, he has developed a reputation for being a passionate and effective advocate for employee rights. Howard has litigated employment cases in federal and state courts both in Maine and other jurisdictions, vindicating clients who have been devastated by employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful denial of benefits, work related injuries, and non-work related claims. Howard is known for his ability to quickly analyze employment contract issues for medical professionals. He frequently testifies before the Maine Legislature and also advocates for workers in the United States Congress.
Howard received his law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1969 where he was selected to be a member of the Law Review. He currently serves as the Vice-President of the Maine Employment Lawyers Association, and has been a speaker for the National Employment Lawyers Association – the foremost organization dedicated exclusively to the advancement of employee rights. He is often asked to serve as an arbitrator or mediator. Howard has also taught law at the University of Maine School of Law, and has taught continuing legal education forums on employment law, workers’ compensation, and negotiation. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America each year from 1990 through 2006.
